TNFS…………. The Search for"The Next Fuji Star" is a proudly Nigerian reality TV show aimed at bringing this wholly Nigerian music genre to deserved spotlight. In a space with a plethora of music competitions, the time has come for an original Nigerian sound, deeply embraced by millions of Nigerians country-wide to come to the fore. Fuji music, born on the gritty streets and undersides of the South-West has gone on to conquer audiences nationally and internationally. Its beats and lyrics pulse with the life and sounds of traditional drums, mixed in with modern synthesized compositions. It may be regarded or perceived as a "Ghetto, back to the street Style" of music but we see it as a platform ready to showcase the very best of the raw talent that is out there on the street, and projecting them on the screen, to be appreciated and celebrated. The existence and impact of Fuji over the years has proven that it is a genre to be reckoned with in the music and entertainment space and we are confident that this is time to give it its pride of place. In the words of Adewale Ayuba, who has been slated as the CHIEF JUDGE of the show:"This is the time for our own original "tiwa n tiwa" reality TV show" and "time to rise up to the occasion, promoting our very own African heritage and originality".

Wickedness: Man Bathes Girlfriend With Acid In Benin (See Photo)

A 23 year old lady,Blessing Ikhumhi, a student of Edo State School of Health Technology was bathed with acid by her ex-boyfriend Cyril Okosun after they parted ways Blessing in her narration said Cyril requested to see her after she ended their relationship and thinking he wanted to talk reconciliation, she agreed to see
him. When he arrived her place as agreed, Cyril went ahead to bathe her with acid.
She has gone blind on both eyes and currently receiving medication at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin.

Her narration as published by The Guardian. "He was my boyfriend and we had arguments in February. He beat me to the extent that I was not able to go to school for three days. I told him I was no longer interested in the relationship. He later tried to forcibly take my telephone, but I refused to give it to him. I told him he was not the one who bought it for me."

"On March 23, he called and asked me to meet him in front of our house. I refused initially, but he insisted, so I came out. He asked: "Do you mean you don't want me again?" I said: "No! I was no more interested in the relationship. And immediately, he poured the acid on my face.

Since that day, I have been on admission at the UBTH and the doctors say I might not see again except I am flown to India where my eyes could be restored."

"I never knew he would have the heart to pour acid on me. I made a mistake. I have learnt the biggest lesson of my life. My prayer now is that God should touch kind-hearted Nigerians to come to my aide so that I would be able to get treatment abroad, since my parents cannot afford it."

Doctors in the hospital believe she may never see again except she is flown to a specialist hospital in India, where her sight could be restored. Cyril has been arrested by the police."

Jesus!!!: 62years Old Man Defiles 13year old girl

A 62-year-old man, Godwin Bassey, has been sentenced to seven years in jail for defiling a 13- year-old girl, Mercy Sunday.

The accused, a trader in Akpanadem Market, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was arraigned in Uyo High Court 4 on Wednesday by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and other related Matters for having illicit sex with Sunday. Bassey had argued that the act was carried out with the girl's consent.

Testifying in court before Justice Andrew Okon, Bassey said Sunday had visited him in his house, adding that on many occasions, he had bought clothes for her.
He said, "I cannot lie that I have not slept with her, but I did it with her agreement. She visits me in the house and I have spent money buying clothes for her."

Also testifying in court, the girl's father, Mr. Ubong Sunday, insisted that his daughter was defiled by Bassey. There was no hospital report to prove the claim of defilement and the HIV/AIDs test conducted on Mercy was negative.

In his judgment on Tuesday, Justice Okon, declared Bassey guilty of the offence and sentenced him to seven-year jail term.

However, Anthony Ebuk, lawyer for the accused, said he would appeal the judgment.

He stated that most of the students were failed by the body because of the rumour that paper leaked.

IGBO Group wants FG to Immortalise Chinua Achebe ( A MUST READ)

An Igbo socio-political group, Aka Ikenga, has urged
the Federal Government to immortalise the late
Prof. Chinua Achebe by fighting corruption, poverty
and injustice across the land.

The group said these were the issues Achebe fought
till his death.

The group's President-General, Chief Goddy
Uwazurike, spoke in Lagos at a day of tributes in
honour of the late literary icon at the Nigerian
Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).

He noted that Achebe would have loved to be
remembered through academics.

Although he said it is not a bad idea if the
government chooses to name an institution or a
monument after the renowned novelist, Uwazurike
added that Achebe, being a principled and dignified
man, would have been happier if his death could
serve a turning point in reclaiming the nation's lost
glory.

He described Achebe as a man who learnt the white
man's language but wrote his stories with Igbo
syntax, as a result of his dire need to protect and
preserve the African culture.

Do You Think Achebe should be Immortalised???

Massive troops deployment in Adamawa,Yobe, Borno

Troops moved into cities in the Northeast yesterday
to enforce President Goodluck Jonathan's
emergency rule declaration.

Residents were frightened by the sight of many
army trucks carrying soldiers into Yola and
Maiduguri. Borno, Adamawa and Yobe are now
under emergency rule, following attacks by
militants of the Boko Haram group.

The main thrust of the patrol is to track down
criminal elements within the vicinity of border
communities prone to terrorist activities.

How the CAN Secretary was killed--- Family explains..

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria,
CAN, Reverend Titus Pona has said that, his
Secretary, late Rev. Faye Pama Musa was murdered
by the Boko Haram sect in front of his daughter,
who followed them from the living room. He said
they dragged him outside before his daughter and
shot him severally.

According to Rev. Pona, his daughter who called to
inform him of her father's demise, said she had
begged them to spare his life, but they would not
listen, instead, they also tried to shoot her, but the
bullet missed her.

Pona said the killers, according to his family, went
through the wall to the house to drag him out, not
with the intention to kill him before his children, but
the daughter followed them.
He recalled that, last year when they met with the
governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima, the
governor, out of concern asked whether the area
they live was safe enough for them.

"We told the governor that our area was safe. Of
course, there were no killings around this area
before, and it is very unfortunate that they came to
attack an innocent man." He said
Family members of the deceased have said that the
killers were seven in number and stormed at
exactly 6:30 pm on Tuesday. " They came in a gulf
car and waited around the house. A lot of people
saw them, even those children that were playing
ball saw them, but nobody thought they were here
for a mission to kill anyone."

According to them, there was rumour last week that
the Boko Haram group were planning to kill or
kidnap a pastor, but people took it lightly.

"We never thought that the rumour could turn out to be true, as it was written and dropped within the Polo area. Only God can save us from these blood
suckers.

Our prayers and hope is that the state of
emergency declared by the President would help to
fish them out and bring them to justice ."

Ex KSA's Band Boy Gets 3 Years Jail For cocaine

Justice S. Seidu of the Federal High Court, Lagos,on Tuesday sentenced a veteran guitarist Fatoke Abiodun to 3years imprisonment for drug trafficking.

The convict pleaded guilty to one count charge of
unlawful exportation of 1.575kg of cocaine on
February 26 while ruling was reserved till this
month.

The defence counsel, Mr. Bayo Onifade, had
pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy
since the convict is 62 years old, a husband of three
wives with 12 children.

In his ruling, Justice Seidu sentenced the convict to
three years imprisonment with effect from the date
of arrest.

He noted that the appeal of the defence counsel

charged without wasting the time of the court was
carefully considered.

Meanwhile, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the
NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade has reiterated his call for
stiffer penalty for drug offenders.

According to Giade, "punishment must be commensurate to serve as a deterrent to others.
The drug is worth several millions of naira and the
damage to humanity cannot be quantified."

Abiodun was apprehended by NDLEA operatives on
January 1 at the Murtala Mohammed International
Airport, Lagos.

We Want Military Task Force--- Church in Kaduna cries out...

TO prevent further attacks on worshippers, the
pastor of Godiya Baptist Church, Kaduna, Reverend
Yunana Gofwan, has appealed to the state
government to establish a military task force in the
area.

The cleric told journalists in Kaduna, on Tuesday,
that worshippers in the church were shot by
unknown gunmen at the weekend, though no one
had died.

He said establishment of a military task force in the
area would help curb persistent attacks on
worshippers in the Malali area of the state.

"Lack of cogent security in the area to counter any
breakdown of law and order is dangerous. The
Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of Malali
zone, which I chair, has brought to the attention of
the Kaduna State government, the urgent need of
siting military base in our area," he said.

Two worshippers, he said, were still on admission at
Garkuwa Hospital, after Friday night attack, while
Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero had visited them in
the hospital and commiserated with the church over
the incident.

"That night we had a band programme and it was
successful. When worshippers were going out after
the service, some unknown gunmen just appeared
and opened fire on my members.

"Our church's watchmen screamed and told
members to lay on the ground. When they noticed
he was screaming, they opened fire on them also.
"Luckily for us, no one died, but many survived with
gun wounds and they are now receiving medical
attention in hospital," he said.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Declares State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa State. (READ SPEECH).

ON THE DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN BORNO, YOBE AND ADAMAWA STATES IN ORDER TO RESTORE PUBLIC ORDER, PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY IN THE AFFECTED STATES OF THE FEDERATION

Dear compatriots,

1. It has become necessary for me to address you on the recent spate of terrorist activities and protracted security challenges in some parts of the country, particularly in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Kano, Plateau and most recently Bayelsa, Taraba, Benue and Nasarawa states. These unfortunate events have led to needless loss of lives and property of many innocent Nigerians including members of our security forces.

2. The recent killing of security operatives by a cult group in Nasarawa state is particularly condemnable. I have directed that no effort or expense be spared in identifying and bringing to justice all those who had a hand in the killing of the operatives.

3. The activities of insurgents and terrorists have been reprehensible, causing fear among our citizens and a near-breakdown of law and order in parts of the country, especially the North. We have taken robust steps to unravel and address the root causes of these crises, but it would appear that there is a systematic effort by insurgents and terrorists to destabilize the Nigerian state and test our collective resolve.

4. Since I returned to the country after cutting short my visit to South Africa and aborting a planned state visit to Namibia, I have received detailed briefings from our security agencies. These briefings indicate that what we are facing is not just militancy or criminality, but a rebellion and insurgency by terrorist groups which pose a very serious threat to national unity and territorial integrity. Already, some northern parts of Borno state have been taken over by groups whose allegiance is to different flags and ideologies.

5. These terrorists and insurgents seem determined to establish control and authority over parts of our beloved nation and to progressively overwhelm the rest of the country. In many places, they have destroyed the Nigerian flag and other symbols of state authority and in their place, hoisted strange flags suggesting the exercise of alternative sovereignty.

6. They have attacked government buildings and facilities. They have murdered innocent citizens and state officials. They have set houses ablaze, and taken women and children as hostages. These actions amount to a declaration of war and a deliberate attempt to undermine the authority of the Nigerian state and threaten her territorial integrity. As a responsible government, we will not tolerate this.

7. Previously, we adopted a multi-track approach to the resolution of this problem through actions which included persuasion, dialogue and widespread consultation with the political, religious and community leaders in the affected states.

8. We exercised restraint to allow for all efforts by both State Governors and well-meaning Nigerians to stop the repeated cases of mindless violence.

9. Yet, the insurgents and terrorists seek to prevent government from fulfilling its constitutional obligations to the people as they pursue their fanatical agenda of mayhem, mass murder, division and separatism.

10. While the efforts at persuasion and dialogue will continue, let me reiterate that we have a sacred duty to ensure the security and well-being of all our people and protect the sovereign integrity of our country. Therefore, we shall, on no account, shy away from doing whatever becomes necessary to provide the fullest possible security for the citizens of this country in any part of the country they choose to reside.

11. We have a duty to stand firm against those who threaten the sovereign integrity of the Nigerian state. Our will is strong, because our faith lies in the indivisibility of Nigeria.

12. Following recent developments in the affected states, it has become necessary for Government to take extraordinary measures to restore normalcy. After wide consultations, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the provisions of Section 305, sub-section 1 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I hereby declare a State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.

13. Accordingly, the Chief of Defence Staff has been directed to immediately deploy more troops to these states for more effective internal security operations. The troops and other security agencies involved in these operations have orders to take all necessary action, within the ambit of their rules of engagement, to put an end to the impunity of insurgents and terrorists.

14. This will include the authority to arrest and detain suspects, the taking of possession and control of any building or structure used for terrorist purposes, the lock-down of any area of terrorist operation, the conduct of searches, and the apprehension of persons in illegal possession of weapons.

15. The details of this Proclamation will be transmitted to the National Assembly in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. But in the meantime, let me make it clear that within the purview of this Proclamation, the Governors and other political office holders in the affected states will continue to discharge their constitutional responsibilitie s.

16. I urge the political leadership in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states to co-operate maximally with the Armed Forces and the Police to ensure that the exercise succeeds. We call on the citizenry to co-operate with our security agencies to ensure a return to normalcy within the shortest possible time.

17. I am again approaching our neighbouring countries, through diplomatic channels, as done in the recent past, for their co-operation in apprehending any terrorist elements that may escape across the border.

18. Nigerians are peace-loving people; these sad events perpetrated by those who do not wish our nation well have not changed the essential character of our people.

19. I want to reassure you all that those who are directly or indirectly encouraging any form of rebellion against the Nigerian state, and their collaborators; those insurgents and terrorists who take delight in killing our security operatives, whoever they may be, wherever they may go, we will hunt them down, we will fish them out, and we will bring them to justice. No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror.

20.I am convinced that with your support and prayers, we shall overcome these challenges and together, we will restore every part of our country to the path of peace, growth and development.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
