Comedian Koffi Drops New Album

One of Nigeria's finest comedian, Koffy Emmanuel Idowu has just released a new album titled GOSPEL TRUTH, featuring Sohlah Babs, Abbey Gospel, Olu Jazz, Sting Dee, X Bonny and Dare. GOSPEL TRUTH is a fifteen track album from the stable of HabithaTh Sounds.

Koffi is the first child in a family of four, born to a Togolese mother and a Nigerian father from Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, he attended Kuramo Primary School, Victoria Island, Lagos, Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State and  University of Lagos where he studied Chemistry.

He started his journey in entertainment way back in the university where he joined a theatre club called Theatre 15.

Pastor Tunde Bakare's Son Slaps NYSC Camp Commandant

Segun Bakare, the son of popular preacher, Pastor Tunde Bakare who was posted to Ondo state for National Youth Service Corp, slapped the camp commandant.

According to the story gathered, coloured trousers had been banned within the camp and the camp commandant spotted Pastor Tunde Bakare's son, Segun Bakare in black trousers, when apprehended, Segun asked the commandant if he didn't know he was the son of Tunde Bakare, the popular preacher. The commandant immediately delivered a slap on Segun's face who in turn replied with his own slap.

Mrs Bakare who gave the commandant a number to call when she dropped off her son in camp, was immediately called and she handed the phone to her husband, Pastor Tunde Bakare who instructed that his son be disciplined for disobeying camp rules.

Segun Bakare went on his knees begging when he heard his father's instruction and the matter has since been resolved.

Reps threaten to order arrest of Okonjo-Iweala, Aig-Imokhuede

For failing to appear before it twice, the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions, on Thursday, threatened to order the arrest of the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Group  Managing Director of Access Bank Plc, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede.

The committee, which is headed by Mr. Uzo Azubuike, said the two were needed to help resolve the N20bn fuel subsidy dispute between the Chairman of Coscharis Motors Limited, Mr. Cosmas Maduka, and the Managing Director of Capital Oil, Mr. Ifeanyi Uba.

The committee had postponed sitting last week to Thursday due to the absence of the minister and the Access Bank GMD.

But on Thursday, Azubuike was angry that they “shunned” the committee again.

He said though the committee was aware that the minister’s mother was kidnapped, it was not a reason to ignore the invitation.

Azubuike added that since the invitation was for the Ministry of Finance, the minister ought to have mandated a representative to present the position of ministry.

He warned that if a representative was not sent to the next sitting of the committee, a warrant of arrest would be issued in the name of the ministry.

It will be recalled that Aig-Imokhuede headed the Presidential Committee on Verification of Subsidy Payments.

Manager, housemaid, kill boss, take over business

Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a manager and a housemaid for killing their boss, Alhaja Sikirat Eko, in Omole Phase 1, Lagos State.

Eko was said to be running a restaurant and bar in her compound, where she lived alone with the maid.

According to the police authorities, the suspects allegedly killed Eko at her home located on 5, Babatunde Ladega Street and kept her corpse within the premises.

The suspects were said to have continued to run the restaurant, giving neighbours and customers the impression that the deceased had travelled.

The two were said to have run out of luck when relatives of the deceased came on a visit. When the suspects could not provide a satisfactory answer, the matter was said to have been reported at Area G Command, in Ogba.

Soldiers arrest 63 suspects over Okonjo’s kidnap

Nigeria Army said on Thursday that soldiers had arrested 63 people in raids as they searched for Prof. Kamene Okonjo, the 82-year-old mother of Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

“Yesterday the Four Brigade raided Ogwashi-Ukwu in search of Mama,” Army spokesperson Roseline Managbe, toldReuters.

“Those arrested are being questioned.”

Managbe said two Lebanese men working for Nigerian construction company Setraco had been abducted on Tuesday in Delta State by gunmen who killed a soldier protecting them.

“It could be my turn tomorrow,” said Tony Agwu, who lives near Okonjo’s house.

“It’s a terrible situation down here. The security agents in the Delta are compromised.”

The police said on Tuesday that two policemen had been arrested on suspicion of helping kidnappers.

Political motives have been suggested for the abduction. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s drive to reform a corrupt economy ruffled powerful vested interests, especially fuel importers.

A security source in Delta State said Okonjo was involved in local politics and seizing her might have been a scare tactic.

Osaze expecting baby, ready for Nations Cup

Super Eagles and West Brom forward Osaze Odemwingie is confident of making the final list for the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa in January but he is uncertain how he will cope when his wife gives birth to their first child in the same month.

Odemwingie was excluded from the team that played Venezuela in a friendly in Miami last month after coach Stephen Keshi reportedly said the striker was not willing to play for Nigeria. Both men have made up and the player is almost certain of making the squad.

But Odemwingie’s wife, Sarah, is due to give birth to a son less than a fortnight before the tournament, meaning the 31-year-old’s preparations could be affected if the baby arrives late.

“I hope it won’t affect my involvement,” said Odemwingie. “You can’t predict what will happen but I hope for a scenario where it will be easy.
