Abuja - Coach Stephen Keshi has submitted the final list of his 23-man Super Eagles players for the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), which gets underway on Jan. 19 in South Africa.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) on Thursday in Abuja and signed by Ademola Olajire, its Assistant Director (Media). The statement said that Keshi submitted the list on Wednesday.
The list has Captain Joseph Yobo, who will be making his sixth Nations Cup finals appearance, as well as Chelsea FC midfielder Mikel Obi.
Also on the list are goalkeepers Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide and Chigozie Agbim, as well as defenders Elderson Echiejile, Kenneth Omuero, Efe Ambrose, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Juwon Oshaniwa and Godfrey Oboabona.
The midfielders on the list are Reuben Gabriel, Nosa Igiebor, Obiora Nwankwo, Fegor Ogude, Brown Ideye, Ogenyi Onazi, Ahmed Musa and Ejike Uzoenyi. Victor Moses, Ikechukwu Uche, Sunday Mba and Emmanuel Emenike are on the list as strikers.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2013 AFCON will hold from Jan. 19 to Feb. 10 in five South African cities, with the Super Eagles in Group C.
NAN also reports that Nigeria are grouped alongside Burkina Faso, defending champions Zambia, and Ethiopia, and will play their first game against Burkina Faso on Jan. 21 in Nelspruit.
