AS part of efforts aimed at ensuring food security in Nigeria, the Federal Government is constructing grain silos worth N1.5 billion in Bauchi State under its National Food Reserve Programme (NFRP).
Inspecting the level of work done at the construction site at Wailo,in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, at the weekend, a delegation from the presidency, led by Mr Ademola Adeyemi, expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far, saying that the project would have positive impact on agriculture in the state.
Adeyemi stated that the delegation was in the state to have an on-the-spot assess of the work done so far, as well as assess the level of acceptance of the project by the state government towards the project.
He expressed happiness that the Bauchi State government had shown much interest in the project, saying that this would, no doubt, boost agriculture in the state and enhance food security in the country.
Speaking while conducting the delegation round the project site, Bauchi State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Tasi'u Mohammed, stated that citing the projectin the state would go a long way in creating job opportunities for the teeming youth in the state, which, he said, was one of the cardinal programmes of the Mallam Isa Yuguda-led administration.
He also expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far by the contractor handling the project.
The commissioner said that the contrator had been paid to the tune of 80 per cent of the contract sum to facilitate prompt completion of the silos.
