Police arrest 17 criminals, recover 11 cars in Kogi

THE Kogi State police command has arrested 17 criminals and recovered 19 locally made anti-personnel bombs, 1,501 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, action pump guns and other weapons. It also recovered 11 cars.
The state Commissioner of police, Muhammed Musa Katsina, paraded the suspects to newsmen at the police force headquaters, in Lokoja, on Monday.
He also paraded one Abdullahi Kolawole, from Ibadan, Oyo State, who allegedly killed two visiting mobile policemen at Okene.
The police also recovered improvised explosive device (IED) mobile armoury, Volkswagen Golf car with registration number Kano KMC 826 XA, 16 locally made anti-tank bombs, eight charged and eight uncharged and seven units of power sources.
Other recovered items were four units of AK-47 riffles, one Mark 4rifle, five automatic pump action rifles, 21 single barrel guns and three locally made pistols.
Also recovered by the police were 17 rounds of Markrov live ammunition, 23 rounds of Brownie Pistok ammunition, 17 rounds of Berretta ammunition, three rounds of Mark 4 ammunition,53 cartridges, five expended and two locally made bullet-proofs and charms.
He said another suspect, Raimi Shaidu, also known as Ken Ken, a popular shoe maker, was also arrested.
Shaidu, who was said to be a mastermind of several robbery attacks on banks and police stations in the state, was alleged to have confessed to personally killed one Sergeant Yisa in Okene and took away his riffle in 2010.
The Commissioner of Police said his security unit was very much on hand to track down those behind criminal activities in the state.
