Hospital workers protest abduction of colleague’s wife, daughter

Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions, Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Uselu, Edo State chapter, has protested against the abduction of the wife and daughter of its  union Chairman, Mr. Cliff Ediae by suspected kidnappers.
Mrs. Rosemary Ediae and daugther,  according to the Secretary of the union, Wellington Ogieriakhi, were abducted in Benin on Monday.
The duo were said to  be on their way  home  at about 6.30pm when they were abducted.
Ogieriakhi said the union was informed that the vehicle conveying the duo was found around Ekiadolor, on the outskirts of Benin.

Ogieriakhi said after the abductors  established contact with the Ediae  family demanded  N15m ransom.
Asenior administrative staff of the hospital, Dan Efeze, appealed for the release of the victims, saying Ediae, an Assistant Director (Pharmacy), “is not a rich man”.
He said, “Civil servants all over the world are known to render public service. Public servants all over the world are respected, and Ediae  should not be an exception. The kidnappers should please have milk of human kindness. We are appealing to you. We know you are doing your job but please release them.”
Though the union said the police had been informed about the development, efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Anthony Airhuoyo, for comments  however failed, as calls made to his mobile telephone number by our correspondent  did not go through.
