Pandemonium as students uncover bomb at FCE, Kano

WHAT would have been another major disaster was
averted in Kano, when a time bomb planted at Block
400 of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Kano,
was uncovered before it was detonated.
A source, who preferred anonymity, said immediately
the purported bomb was uncovered at the campus,
there was pandemonium in the institution, as
students scampered for safety.
The pandemonium caused many students and
lecturers to rush out of lecture rooms, to avoid the
looming danger.
According to the state police command, in a
statement signed by its Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), Mohammed Dutse, a good Samaritan
uncovered the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at
the institution.
According to him, mmediately the suspected bomb
was uncovered, the school authorities informed the
police, while the anti-bomb detecting team moved
into the scene of the incident.
The statement said the IED was then moved to a
safer place, where it was difused without causing any
havoc or injury.
The command commended members of the public
for helping the security operatives.
