Armed Robbers Kill Another Corporal, Snatch Rifle

Barely three days after armed robbers shot Inspector Ogedemgbe and a corporal dead at Ajao Estate, another policeman attached to Ejigbo Police Division was yesterday killed by robbers in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The latest killing was at Oke Afa area at a popular joint where the corporal, simply identified as Emma, with his patrol team had gone to respond to a distress call about a robbery operation in the area.

P.M.NEWS gathered that when the police went to the joint, they were ambushed by the bandits.

It was learnt that the robbers opened fire on them, killed the corporal and took away his gun, before shooting indiscriminately and escaping from the scene of the incident.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the policeman was taken to Isolo hospital where he was certified dead.

His body was later deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

When P.M.NEWS contacted the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Ngozi Braide, she confirmed the incident but declined to commend further.

She told our correspondent to call back for further information but could not be reached again as at the time of filing this report.

When P.M.NEWS visited Ejigbo Police station, our correspondent observed that the police officers were in low spirits as they were mourning the death of their colleague.
