Telecommunications giant, Globacom, on Tuesday introduced a new
super-fast Internet service to address the challenges of internet usage
in the country.
Globacom said that the Internet service, Glo Bolt,
would run on HSPA network backed by the revolutionary GLO 1
International Submarine Cable.
Mr Adewale Sangowanwa, Executive
Director in the company, who unveiled the product at a press conference
in Lagos, said that Glo Bolt, would allow subscribers to witness a
thrilling new experience in data usage.
“With the interconnection
of Glo Bolt with GLO 1 cable and subsequent network upgrade, the new
service offers users unparalleled internet speed, connectivity and
reliability.
“We understand the frustration of Nigerian Internet
users and recognise the potential of the Internet in driving growth and
development, we are confident Glo Bolt will help in both regards,” he
said.
Mr Niyi Olukoya, Globacom Marketing Coordinator, said that
the service was also enhanced with two features of “Share Subscription
and Gift Subscription”.
“These features enable subscribers to
share their subscriptions or send subscription as gift; this is the
first time that any mobile Internet service provider is introducing such
a feature,” he said.
Olukoya said that Glo Bolt would
revolutionise the Internet service market because of the phenomenal
capacity of GLO 1 Submarine Cable.
“The facility has a bandwidth capacity of 640 gigabyte, scalable to 2.4 terabyte, and guaranteed 99 per cent uptime reliability.
“Glo
Bolt has been enabled to out-perform competing products in the market
because of the superior network quality of GLO 1,” he said.
On
subscription plans, Olukoya explained that the sharing feature offered
the subscriber convenience and affordability by enabling sharing of
Internet subscription with friends and family instead of buying multiple
subscriptions.
“This revolutionary new service will put an end to
down time experience in many parts of the country and improve
productivity,” he said. (NAN)
